iLovePDF Alternative for Private, Browser-Based PDF Tools
iLovePDF is a large, capable PDF toolkit. If what you want is the everyday tasks done without an account and without your file being uploaded, this is a smaller and more private way to get them.
- Every tool here is free, with no account, no sign-up and no watermark on anything you download.
- Files are processed by your browser on your own device, so documents are not uploaded to a server to be worked on.
- iLovePDF offers a wider tool set, mobile apps and paid features that this project does not attempt to match.
- Choose on the task: basics done privately here, everything else on a full toolkit.

When iLovePDF is the better choice
These are real reasons to stay where you are. If any of them describe your work, a full toolkit will serve you better than this one.
- You need OCR to make a scanned document searchable.
- You want a desktop or mobile application rather than a website.
- You need conversions this site does not offer, such as Office file formats.
- You process large batches regularly and want a paid plan built for it.
- You want cloud storage integrations that pull files from a drive account.
When Online PDF Editing is the better fit
- The document is confidential and you would rather it never left your device.
- You want to merge, split, rotate, crop, convert or compress without signing up.
- You are on a phone and do not want to install an application for one task.
- You dislike daily limits, upgrade prompts and free-tier countdowns.
- You want the file back immediately, with no upload and no queue to wait through.
The real difference: where the work happens
Most online PDF services follow the same shape. Your file is uploaded to a server, the work is done there, and a finished file is sent back. That design is why they can offer heavy features such as OCR and format conversion, and it is a perfectly normal way to build a product.
This site is built the other way round. The processing code is delivered to your browser and runs on your machine, so the document is never transmitted. That rules out the heavy features, and in exchange it means a contract or a payslip is never sitting on infrastructure you do not control, even briefly.
What you actually give up by switching
If your work is merging, splitting, rotating, cropping, organizing pages, converting between images and PDF, compressing, adding content to a page or filling a form, you give up very little. Those are the twelve tools here, and they are the tasks most people open a PDF site for.
If your work involves recognising text in scans, converting a PDF to a Word document, or rewriting the sentences already inside a file, you should stay with a full toolkit. Those are real capabilities and pretending otherwise would waste your time.
What this site does not do
Stated up front, because finding out after loading a file is worse than reading it here:
- No optical character recognition, so scanned text does not become searchable here.
- No editing of text that is already inside a PDF. This editor adds new content on top.
- No Office format conversion, no cloud storage links and no API.
- No certificate-based digital signatures, only visible signature images.
- Very large files are bounded by the memory your browser can allocate, which is tighter on a phone.
Why browser processing is the difference
Your files are processed in your browser. Nothing is uploaded to a server, so your document never leaves your device, and there is nothing on our side to store, leak or delete.
That is the trade this whole comparison turns on: fewer heavy features in exchange for a document that stays where it started. The privacy policy sets out exactly what is and is not collected.
